Caccia: Tuscany, some members of the Democratic Party defend the "Tuscan model" by replying to requests to review the containment operations of the Fox in the province of Siena.
The regional secretary Andrea Manciulli and other leading exponents of the party reply to the request for withdrawal of the provision on numerical control of the fox population in Siena formulated by 12 Senators of the Democratic Party A long open letter, signed by Andrea Manciulli, Luca Sani, Marco Spinelli and Moreno Periccioli and sent to three of the twelve senators of the Democratic Party who had written to the President of the Province of Siena to request the withdrawal of the provision that provides for numerical control interventions on the fox population, defends and strongly relaunches the choices made in Tuscany.
The recipients of the letter are not "any" senators: they are Vannino Chiti, Claudio Martini and Riccardo Nencini. A choice mainly dictated by the astonishment of finding, among the various Tuscan signatories, those names "all - recalls the note - in the not so distant past, protagonists - in the role of top managers of the Executive and the Regional Council - of regulatory and government actions at the forefront, in the Italian context, precisely in the field of the rational management of fauna and the balance between species, with the primary reference of protecting the environment, biodiversity, the productive wealth of the Tuscan countryside ".
The signatories of the open letter still remember how the three senators in question have "contributed at the highest levels to building a management model that is among the most modern". Hence the wonder precisely for "the invitation to a public administration not to exercise the powers that the laws approved by you, and repeatedly defended in the face of controversy and animal rights attacks, assign to the administration itself".
The letter concludes: “We remain fully convinced of the goodness of the so-called Tuscan model of environmental and wildlife management and we continue the actions that have seen you as protagonists to claim role, competences and responsibilities to the Regions to improve its quality and effectiveness. We do not want to throw away a culture of government of which Tuscany has always been proud: we sincerely hope to still have you with us ".
