The allocated funds
Maintaining the commitment to safeguard the wildlife in difficulty, the Region has increased the resources available to the regional wildlife rescue service which is currently managed by the ASL Toscana Centro with a further 25 thousand euros.
Species most at risk
The service consists of rescuing injured and distressed wildlife and is activated based on priority, favoring wild species at risk (such as birds of prey and native species) by contacting local supervisory bodies. The latter will activate the service. Case in point, wild boars for which, given the ongoing emergency linked to African swine fever, special protocols are envisaged.
The words of councilor Saccardi
For all cases of fauna difficulty both in natural environments and, as happens more and more often, in anthropic environments, uniform operational guidelines have been formulated for some time - explains Saccardi - Rescuing a wild animal in difficulty is a gesture that requires guidelines guide to behavior and procedures that guarantee not only greater possibilities of care and recovery of the rescued animal but also the safety of those who are the first to intervene. The protection and recovery of fauna is a very important mission, carried out with passion by many volunteers and qualified personnel who work for animal welfare every day". (Source TUSCANY NEWS)
