The best possible conditions
The Italian Shooting Union announces that with decree no. 3 issued today, Wednesday 5 March 2025, the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Institution Walter De Giusti has ordered the revocation of the resolution adopted by the Board of Directors of the UITS extension in the meeting of January 14th, with which the National Elective Assembly of the organization for the Olympic four-year period 2025-2028 was called. As a result of this provision, the assembly scheduled for March 15th and 16th ppvv in Ostia Lido (Rome) will not take place and will be reconvened on a date and at a location to be determined, when for the UITS - as stated in the provision - "the best conditions exist to be able to accommodate within it the dual nature of sports federation on the one hand and public body on the other".
Lack of harmony
The Extraordinary Commissioner has assessed that the elections could not be held in harmony with the fundamental principles of the Statutes regulating the National Sports Federations, which were introduced in the UITS Statute at the time, as the procedures for choosing the members of these bodies are misaligned between the sports system and that typical of public administration.
The latest rounds
The measure essentially aims to create the conditions so that the election of the new President of UITS can take place in a manner and time frame that is different from what occurred during the last two electoral rounds, with the appointment first of the Extraordinary Commissioner and then with the ratification of the elections of the President and their effective entry into force after approximately six months (source: UITS).
