Target shooting
The Extraordinary Commissioner of theUITS extensionWalter De Giusti, the Special Commissioner, has approved the 2026 Federal Sports Program, a document that defines the guidelines for federal sporting activities in the ISSF disciplines and confirms the desire to invest concretely and structuredly in the shooting movement. The Extraordinary Commissioner has ordered an increase in financial resources allocated to the sports sector. This clear decision places competitive and youth sports at the center of the program and strengthens support for athletes and clubs, with the aim of fostering constant and widespread development throughout the country.
Investments in detail
Among the key changes are the increase in the contribution to the CIS (Italian Club Championship), from €165.000 to €200.000; the 20% increase in the contribution to the Youth Grand Prix, from €70.000,00 to €84.000,00; and the increase in the contribution for the 300 meters, from €9.000,00 to €12.000,00, consolidating the federal commitment to supporting the sporting activities of the National Shooting Sections. On a regulatory and organizational level, the new Program introduces the redefinition of the "Men's Masters" category, now divided into three categories: Veterans, Grand Masters, and Masters, with the aim of making the competition more balanced and responsive to the needs of the athletes who had previously advocated for various reasons.
Further proposals
Particular attention has also been paid to the Paralympic sector, with the introduction of the SH PROMO – P (pistol) and SH PROMO – R (rifle) categories. This innovation significantly expands the possibilities for competitive sport, allowing athletes who are not yet classified or have an NE (Ineligible) classification to participate in regional competitions, encouraging their introduction to Paralympic sport and guiding them on a gradual path to growth. Finally, with a view to opening up and enhancing sporting competition, the 2026 Program extends participation in federal competitions to foreign athletes residing in Italy and holding valid UITS membership. However, they cannot be admitted to the Olympic final, even if they qualify, and, in competitions without a final, they cannot claim the title of Italian Champion if they win. These changes may not be limited to those already approved. The ISSF Sports Commission, on behalf of the Extraordinary Commissioner, is in fact engaged in preparing further proposals for amendments to the PSF 2026, with the aim of making it even more in line with the needs of the sports movement.
