Hunting and Fauna: Umbria, Regional Plan for the health control of wild boars in conjunction with the opening of the 2015/16 Hunting Season and the imminent opening of the hunting with wild boar.
In view of the upcoming opening of the wild boar hunting, scheduled for October 3, 2015, and since selective sampling by authorized hunting teams are already underway, the Veterinary Service of USL Umbria 1 announces that the "Regional Health Control Plan for wild boars and surveillance of other wild species "aimed at identifying specific pathologies of wild boar or which also affect other species of domestic animals or which even affect humans as zoonoses as they are directly transmissible to him by contact (zoonosis).
These investigations will be carried out not only on wild boars killed during the hunting campaign, according to the calendar, but also on the wild fauna found dead which must be sent to the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Perugia through the Veterinary Service USL Umbria 1.
We remind you that the inspection of the entire corata and the search for Trichinella spp. Larvae are mandatory. in the meat of slaughtered wild boars and that wild boar meat must be consumed after the outcome of the examination for the search for Trichinella spp. and only after complete cooking or seasoning.
