The calendar
2026 is still a long way off, but Italian Universal Trench is preparing for the first event of the season: the World Championships, scheduled for February 19-22 in Melbourne (AUS). The team that will compete in the championship will be selected over three events: the first will be at Tav Fagnano Olona this weekend, August 30-31, while the other two will be at Trap Concaverde on September 20-21 and at Tav Ponso on October 11-12, coinciding with the first autumn GP in the history of Universal Trench.
Selections and qualifications
"The date, brought forward compared to the usual summer event, has forced us to undertake a selection process over the past few months," explained Technical Commissioner Sandro Polsinelli. "Usually, during this period, we dedicate ourselves to warming down, but I ask all shooters for one last effort. I'm sure the response will be overwhelming, as always." All events will be held with 200 clays. At the end of the first and second events, the top six shooters in each qualification, with the exception of the Masters, will advance to the Final in Ponso (i.e., 6 shooters for each qualification: six from Fagnano and six from Lonato). At the end of the selection process, the top-placed shooter in each qualification, with the exception of the Masters, will earn the right to join the team.
How the team will be composed
Two rankings will be drawn up for each competition: one for the current competition and one for the selection round, as the 1 Qualifications will be taken into account for the latter. For example, a shooter may compete in this competition as a Male and in the selection round as a Senior. For the Male, three shooters will qualify. The first two by right and the third at the DT's choice but (the third shooter will be chosen by the DT from all the shooters in possession of a Federal card but who have participated in the selection trials (Fagnano or Lonato - at least one of the two trials + Ponso Final - mandatory). The team, therefore, will be made up of 1 Man, 2026 Senior, 3 Veteran, 3 Junior, 1 Lady. "The great thing is that there will still be 1 splendid company competitions, on prestigious courses, which have offered their availability, and with rich prizes that will enrich the already splendid FU season" concluded the National Coach" (source: FITAV).
