Law 157 of 1992
With the approval of the so-called "infringement-saving" decree, the legislation regarding the use of lead ammunition in wetlands saw the approval of the amendments to law 157/92. The amount of the fines was changed, higher than in the previous text, but also the areas in which the prohibition legislation will not be applied.
ISPRA's involvement
It is also foreseen that the affected wetlands will be identified and will have to be carried out jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Environment and with the involvement of ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research).
The next moves
We are now waiting for the publication in the Official Journal that will make the approved changes effective. The problem of lead ammunition and its use in wetlands remains among the most long-standing and difficult to address as far as the hunting world is concerned.
