Hunting with wild boar. The hunters of the self-managed Fundales of Orgosolo (NU) is mobilizing against the new provisions of the Region on hunting, contained in the program for the eradication of African swine fever.
The appointment is for Sunday 6 December in the Pratobello area, where all hunters who gravitate in the infected areas are invited to the event. The five companies of wild boar hunting self-managed protest for too many constraints and for the significant economic costs to be borne by the new provisions.
“A burden - they denounce - that unfairly falls on those who have always shown collaboration with the institutions in dealing with the problems of African swine fever. We believe that we cannot adhere to the collaboration requested, not only because it is too burdensome from the point of view of time and costs, but also dangerous for the criminal implications that can be encountered ”.
“The measure - they explain - foresees the destruction of the garments we have captured that are positive for the PSA. But we know that infected boars do not harm humans, so why destroy them? Staying empty-handed after a day of hunting is a reason for disaffection with hunting. Furthermore, the head of the company, for which ad hoc training courses are provided, is obliged to take and deliver the blood and organs of the captured animal to the Zooprophilatic Institute ".
“Not only that - they continue - he and all the members of the company must use disinfectants suitable for every butchery operation. It is also necessary to have a pit that falls within the parameters given by the legislation to dispose of hides and entrails. In short, a carefree hunting day is transformed into a working day for which, instead of being paid, one is penalized and harassed ".
