The requirements provided
With Resolution No. G01345 of February 5, 2026, the Public Notice for Expressions of Interest for the sale of wild boars from judicial seizure was approved. The aim is to find facilities or individuals who meet the requirements set by current legislation and are willing to assume custody and ensure their lifelong care. The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is February 20, 2026.
The history of the story
It is hereby announced that the Lazio Region intends to sell the wild boars present in the structure subject to judicial seizure called “Farm of the Last”These animals, many of which are hybrids born in captivity, have demonstrated markedly trusting behaviors toward the volunteer staff. Many are likely no longer capable of living independently, having become accustomed to human contact, but they can be sold and placed in facilities/individuals capable of caring for them, providing lifelong support. In June 2025, the animals held at the "Sfattoria degli ultimi" were seized by the judicial authorities. The approximately 180 wild or wild-like animals (hybrids) were entrusted to the custody of the Lazio Region, represented by the Director of the Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, Hunting and Fishing, and Forestry Department.
Who will be privileged?
The physical custody of the animals was initially entrusted to animal welfare volunteers who offered to provide sustenance and care for the animals and provide them with better welfare than before their seizure (cramped spaces, lack of shelter and bedding, parasite infestation, and inadequate nutrition). For the wild animals, a search is underway for entities/facilities already authorized to house wild animals under current legislation that can accommodate all or some of them at no cost to the Lazio Region; preference will be given to those who provide better spaces and living conditions for the animals (source: Lazio Region).
