Possible actions
Federcaccia Toscana-UCT, in collaboration with Coldiretti Toscana, has organised a conference for Thursday 6 February 2025, in Mercatale di Vernio in the province of Prato, focused on wolf management, aimed at identifying possible actions to resolve the social conflicts dictated by the massive presence of the species in the Tuscan regional territory.
The collaboration of the ATCs
This event represents a first concrete step towards the start of a scientific investigation aimed at collecting updated and reliable data on the presence of the wolf in Tuscany, which could also be extended to a collaboration with the ATCs, filling the current lack of real monitoring of the species in the region. Only through a clear and shared framework and reliable data, will we be ready in the future to manage the wolf in an appropriate manner, especially in areas where conflicts with human activities, such as agriculture and livestock farming, have reached unsustainable levels. The main scientific contribution will be brought by Professor Marco Apollonio, full professor of Zoology at the University of Sassari and one of the leading European experts on the species, with a long research experience.
Who will intervene
After the institutional greetings, the main speakers will speak: Marco Salvadori, Regional President of Federcaccia Toscana-UCT, Letizia Cesani, President of Coldiretti Toscana and Professor Marco Apollonio. This will be followed by a round table discussion with the participation of the Vice President of the Regional Council of Tuscany, Stefania Saccardi, moderated by the Director of Coldiretti Toscana, Angelo Corsetti, during which the topics discussed will be further analyzed and explored. The meeting will be an important opportunity to discuss a complex and delicate topic in a scientific and in-depth manner, aiming to build solid, concrete and effective foundations for an aware management of the species in the coming years (source: Federcaccia Toscana-UCT).
