A changing scenario
A completely new scenario is emerging following the death of Lucia Tognela, the 59-year-old woman who lost her life last week in Trivigno, Valtellina. The autopsy and on-site investigations have led to the suspicion that other animals, in addition to the dogs initially identified, were involved. She died of hemorrhagic shock, but questions remain.
Escape and impact
Several elements would be compatible with the attack by a Brown bearIn particular, two bruises on the shoulders, which would suggest an escape that ended with a fall, are unconvincing, as are three wounds on the right thigh that appear to be from the mammal's claws. Furthermore, the victim apparently suffered a complete scalp removal, an injury more consistent with a bear than a dog.
The measures to be activated
In the weeks preceding the tragedy, the presence of a bear with two cubs in that area of Valtellina was estimated. If this reconstruction is confirmed, alert and prevention measures should be activated to prevent the bear from coming into contact with other people.
