An evocative scenario
In the suggestive scenery of Roccaccia, immersed in the greenery of Tarquinia territoryThe second edition of the wood pigeon hunting event took place on April 18th and 19th, part of the broader Festa della Merca program, organized by the Agricultural University of Tarquinia. Two days packed with events, designed to celebrate local traditions and maintain a connection with the area's cultural and rural heritage. The event, organized in collaboration with the Provincial Hunting Federation and the Tarquinia municipal branch, represented an important meeting point for enthusiasts and hunting professionals. In the picturesque Roccaccia woods, Federcaccia set up several themed stands dedicated to wood pigeon hunting and ancient crafts, attracting numerous visitors.
Pigeons of various breeds
Among the exhibitors, Samuele Catastini displayed a selection of pigeons of various breeds, used as both stage and pole flyers, along with plungers and specific accessories. Fiorenzo Andreoli presented traditional poles and equipment, while Giacomo Guerrini captivated the audience with innovative accessories. Enei Ezio Forano was also present with his artisanal cutlery stand. Luciano Luciani's work was particularly appreciated, as he revived ancient techniques, creating baskets and objects in vinco on site. The morning of Saturday, April 18th, was enlivened by an amateur dog competition on released quails, open to both youth and veteran categories. The competition was judged by Alessandro Taglia, an FIDC judge, assisted by his assistant Stefano Mecarone. Both expertly directed the competition, carefully evaluating both the handlers and assistants. The awards ceremony concluded the event, which saw enthusiastic participation from the competitors.
Many enthusiasts
There was no shortage of institutional presence: the President of the Province of Viterbo, Alessandro Romoli, and the President of the Lazio Regional Agriculture Commission, Giulio Zelli, visited the stands, demonstrating the importance of the event for the region. Numerous enthusiasts attended the event, helping to foster a climate of discussion and sharing. Between the purchase of new equipment and the exchange of opinions, it became clear that the hunting sector is constantly evolving, even within the Lazio region.
