Key topics
The fair JAGD & HUNDER, Europe’s largest hunting fair, took place from 28 January to 2 February 2025 in Dortmund, Germany. During the event, delegates and experts from European National Hunting Associations had the opportunity to come together for several FACE meetings. On 29 January, the FACE Board discussed key topics for Europe’s 7 million hunters, including hunting and bird conservation, wolf management, animal welfare, firearms and ammunition. At the same time, the FACE Communication Working Group met to advance work on the social pillar of FACE initiatives. In particular, FACE is working to strengthen the social acceptance of hunting in Europe through coordinated initiatives such as the successful Game Meat Week campaign, which promotes the benefits of game meat to a wider audience.
Industrial Networking
On the same day, FACE organised an industry networking event entitled “The European Hunting Sector 2025: Future Expectations and Industry Impacts”. The event attracted leading exhibitors, business leaders and industry representatives. FACE President Laurens Hoedemaker and Secretary General Dr David Scallan presented key aspects of FACE’s advocacy and advocacy work, highlighting the challenges and opportunities emerging from Brussels, where a significant proportion of the regulations affecting hunting and conservation in Europe are formulated. This annual event has become a valuable platform for the private sector to network and stay informed about the latest trends impacting hunting and conservation in Europe.
Policies for hunters
FACE was honoured to have Sabine Loos, Director of Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund, the organiser of the event, deliver a welcome message to our industry event. FACE’s German member, Deutsche Jagdverband (DJV) and their regional member Landesjagdverband Nordrhein-Westfalen, are active at the show and discuss a number of key policies of importance to hunters in Germany.
