Agricultural ecosystem
The article entitled: “Environmental improvements for the Italian partridge (Perdix perdix italica) in a lowland agricultural ecosystem: the experience of the LIFE PERDIX”, signed by Davide Senserini and Daniel Tramontana, of the Office of Wildlife and Agro-Environmental Studies and Research of the Italian Hunting Federation.
Reclaimed territory
The study describes the experience of the LIFE Perdix project, which had as its main objective the reintroduction of the Italian partridge in a lowland agricultural area, the SPA Valle del Mezzano (Ferrara), a reclaimed territory of approximately 18.000 hectares.
Economic and social difficulties
A key element of the project was the environmental improvement of the habitat, which is essential to promote the reintroduction of the subspecies and to strengthen an ecological network that is currently lacking in these areas. The article also highlights the economic and social difficulties faced in an intensive agricultural context, but highlights how the interventions carried out have represented a model that can be replicated in other national and European contexts. This is an important recognition for the technical-scientific activity of our Federation, which demonstrates the constant commitment to the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable management of the territory.
