Some citizens and hunters of Atessa, having become aware of the will on the part of theTerritorial Hunting Area of the Vastese of wanting to establish in the territory of Atessa two Areas of Respect for Hunting, which in fact would have led to the prohibition of hunting wild boars, involved the councilor Vincenzo Menna and the mayor Giulio Borrelli and at the same time they prepared a collection of signatures "very participatory to express the opposition toestablishment of such areas, given the considerable presence of wild boars and the damage caused by these ».
Immediate reaction of the municipal administration of Atessa which, with a letter signed by the mayor, highlighted how the institution of Zrv in the area of competence was taking place in violation of the provisions of the current hunting fauna plan. "Thanks to the timely intervention of the mayor, who asked for an urgent meeting with the Abruzzo Region, the Municipality itself and the ATC Vastese, to take the concerns of farmers into the utmost account, - explain the signatories and promoters of the initiative - and thanks to the diligence shown by the manager of the Hunting Department of the Abruzzo Region, who promptly asked for clarifications in the face of criticalities found with respect to the provisions in force on the matter, the attempt to preclude the hunted hunting two areas of Atessa decimated by the massive presence of ungulates has been temporarily thwarted.
