La Abruzzo region gave negative opinion to several owners of agricultural land they had asked to ban the access of hunters in their lands. And the Abruzzo Ornithological Station (Soa) addresses the judges. Massimo Pellegrini, president of the environmental association says: "We sponsored an appeal to the Regional Administrative Court of one of the owners who was denied the sacrosanct right to decide which activities can take place on their own land. A hunter today can do what is forbidden, for example, to a researcher or a wildlife photographer.
An intolerable situation ". Attorney Herbert Simone declares: "Meanwhile, the appeal aims to prove procedural errors in which the officials of the Region have incurred, despite the precise and timely motivations and jurisprudential interpretations provided. Then we highlight the illogicality and the lack of preliminary investigation with respect to the numerous reasons underlying the citizen's request to ban hunting on the property, starting from the risks for their own safety and that of loved ones, considering that hunting causes dozens of victims every year. Among the reasons also that relating to lead pollution, given that the pellets that are dispersed and accumulate, cause persistent pollution on which theIspra expressed itself with an unequivocal technical document ".
The lawyer Michele Pezone adds: “We also raised the question of the constitutionality of the rules that allow hunters to enter private land without prior authorization. The applicant had underlined in the request sent to the Region his ethical convictions regarding the rejection of the violence inherent in hunting and the desire to educate children and grandchildren to respect the life of wild animals. All this clashes, of course, with the possibility for hunters to enter freely and shoot on the ground of others, with the unarmed owners who have to witness these bloody scenes. We believe that the time has come to repeal these discriminatory rules ”.
