The instance of ACLI Ambiente, Naturalistic Studies Center and WWF Foggia was accepted by the Puglia Region. The Hunting and Fishing Service agreed with the three institutions, intent on preventing the 800 annual permits which are reserved for extra-regional hunters 16 thousand daily licenses. The permits will therefore remain 800 and the environmental associations said they were satisfied with the decision, as it complies with the provisions of the law.
As stated in the joint press release they issued, 800 permits instead of 16 thousand are able to exercise less hunting pressure on the territory of the Foggia province, taking into account that there would also be hunters without any kind of link with this territory. The associations wanted to underline a further advantage of this reduction.
In fact, 16 thousand daily permits would have complicated it hunting surveillance law enforcement, a useful way to counter the "Hit and run hunting tourism". It has been a while since ACLI, Centro Studi and WWF have had it with the decision to have the Province of Foggia become a large hunting reserve, despite their point of view there are no necessary requirements for planning and scheduling. Now they await news also regarding the 2016-2017 hunting calendar.
