An unhuntable species at the moment
The hunters' activities do not end with the end of the hunting season nor do they simply stop with the shot. Our passion and knowledge leads us to want to learn more and more about the species that interest us. In this case also a species which at the moment is practically not huntable, but whose management plan we are awaiting as soon as possible, i.e. the LAPWING.
The drought of the season
Some ACMA census takers and valid collaborators have inaugurated a new project which aims to identify the trend of nesting populations of this species which in recent years has been increasingly increasing in this delicate biological phase. The project began in the province of Verona and was gradually expanded to all the areas affected by this process. Certainly the drought of this season doesn't help us and probably many individuals will choose other areas this year or will delay in the hope of rain, we will be here waiting for them in any case.
How to participate in the project
Another sore point to highlight concerns the large presence of corvids, particularly harmful to the broods of this species. Also regarding this, the Plan will need to intervene with firmness. Especially in the monotonous and desolate industrialized environment of the Po valley, controlling these species is of fundamental importance. Despite this, there are already dozens of individuals in the area ready to nest.
