Deep dismay
We report below the joint note which bears the signatures of Sergio Berlato (National President of the Association for Rural Culture), Giulia Sottoriva (National President of the Confederation of Italian Hunting Associations), Umberto Venturini (President of the Venetian Hunters Association) and Gianfranco Vezzaro (National President of the Foundation for Rural Culture): “In recent days, we have been shocked to read about the controversies that have arisen among various leaders of the infamous Hunting Control Room regarding the clumsy and ineffective proposals to amend Article 16 of State Law No. 157/92, which aim to allow private institutions that so request to transform themselves into profit-making enterprises.".
Hunting control room
"To be even more explicit, these institutions are expected to be able to "sell" hunting for financial gain. The heated debates erupting in the press and on social media seem more like a ridiculous rehash of the Pisa thieves' tale than a serious discussion among the hunting leaders of the infamous Control Room.".
Unshared line
"As some may recall, Pisan thieves were known for pretending to argue during the day and then burglarizing homes together at night. It's natural to ask: if some hunting officials disagree with the stance of some of their cronies within the same group, why don't they show courage and consistency and leave the Steering Committee to help create an alternative organization that defends the rights of all hunters rather than simply defending their own privileges? Could this be an attempt to gain some visibility, while carefully avoiding leaving that ineffective organization that appears to have provided no benefit to the Italian hunting community since its inception?".
