The provincial section of Venice of the Venetian Hunters Association presents a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office; “Stop defaming the hunters!”.
The provincial president of ACV Venice, Massimo Parravicini, announces that he has presented a complaint to the Public Prosecutor's Office denouncing the defamatory and persecutory climate created by the press against the category of hunters. In fact, Parravicini affirmed, "In recent years, defamatory falsehoods have been disclosed by the press and TV."
Continuing he said, “just in the last week have hunters been in the newspapers for:
- the accusation of having slaughtered wild boars and roe deer in the province of Venice, which were trying to save themselves on the banks of the Tagliamento river. I emphasize that in the Province of Venice hunting is forbidden for these species and there is no evidence that the hunters are guilty. Some killings were carried out by the Provincial Police for reasons of Public Safety;
- the accusation of having shot a dog and leaving it dying in a countryside area between Dolo and Venice: there is no evidence that it was a hunter. She may have been a person exasperated by the constant raiding of chickens on the properties (the dog returned home alone);
- the accusation of killing a baby of a family of swans "adopted" for months by the island of Burano, because he had disappeared, when instead the swan, the next day, reached his family again ".
President Parravicini then explained, “This false information sows hatred towards the category. In order to avoid that one tomorrow the witch-hunt attitude towards hunters by ill-informed citizens worsens even more, which can increase repressive and violent actions against this category or against the assets of hunters, all Having said that, also on the basis of complaints about threats that I was forced to make to the Venice Police Headquarters against unknown persons, I ask, in the event that the hypothesis of a crime is recognized, should given defamatory news to journalists of facts that do not correspond to reality ".
Finally, Parravicini underlined that due to the defamatory climate against hunters, unpleasant episodes against hunters have recently multiplied, such as the poisoning of hunting dogs which counts 19 specimens killed so far, the damage to vehicles belonging to hunters and death threats received from the most extremist animal rights associations.
