Beretta Arms has concluded an important agreement with the government of Romania for the construction of two new types of weapons at the "Plopeni" plant which is located in Prahova district, not far from Bucharest. The official announcement was made by the Ministry of Economy of the Eastern European country. The holder of the dicastery, Niculae Badalau, intervened during a television broadcast and disclosed some details of the agreement.
In particular, it was understood that the Gardone Val Trompia company and Bucharest itself will create a brand new company: the Romanian side will be the one that will maintain control of the shares equal to 80%, hence most. The local army has already taken steps to test the weapons in question, an experiment that has hinted at how fundamental they are for the country's armed forces.
There will be two new types of equipment, first of all theARX 160. This is an assault rifle chambered for the 5,56 × 45mm NATO caliber. It was initially presented as a simple upgrade of construction materials and addition of little tricks to the Beretta AR 70/90; we then moved on to a subsequent more elaborate prototype, which introduced a non-foldable stock but adjustable in length and the cocking lever in the upper front position.
