The signing of the protocol
Yesterday the memorandum of understanding was signed between the Municipality and the Local health authority of Teramo for the management of wild boar in the municipal territory. After the issuing, in recent days, of an ordinance for the installation of capture cages for the containment of ungulates, the protocol was signed which provides for all the operational activities, both for the placement of capture manholes and for the recovery and transport of animals. Soon the Municipality, thanks also to the availability of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga Park Authority, will equip itself with the appropriate cages, which will be granted on free loan.
Coordination of operations
All management phases will be carried out in compliance with ISPRA and Teramo ASL indications. The protocol was signed by the Mayor Gianguido D'Alberto, by the Councilor with responsibility for animal welfare Pina Ciammariconi and by the manager of Area 7, Gianni Cimini, for the Municipality of Teramo and by the Manager of the complex operational unit "Veterinary Service of hygiene of food and livestock production" Mario Di Domenicantonio "by the Director of the complex operational unit of the Animal Health Veterinary Service, Enzino De Febiis for the ASL. The ecological policeman Vincenzo Calvarese will coordinate the collection and transport operations.
Prevention measures
“This protocol constitutes a step forward in the human-animal relationship in the territory, as well as for the prevention of pathologies affecting these species, such as swine fever, on which it is necessary to raise the level of attention and strengthen prevention measures in our territory ,” D'Alberto said. “The role of the veterinary service will be technical and will concern the part relating to animal welfare in the various phases, the control of infectious diseases and the technical and bureaucratic aspects linked to the transport of captured animals”, said the Director of the Veterinary Service complex operational unit of food hygiene and livestock production, Mario Di Domenicantonio.
