The union of intentions between Coldiretti e CNCN (National Hunting and Nature Committee) was also welcomed with some perplexity which concerns a number of aspects. It is precisely for this reason that the Caccia Passione editorial team decided to interview Maurice Zipponi, president of CNCN, to have some more clarifications and answer those who are not convinced by the agreement. These are the questions we asked him.
How do you respond to the criticisms according to which the establishment of the Biodiversitalia Agrivenatory Association would favor the creation of new hunting reserves?
First of all, let's immediately clarify that AB is not an association that can be superimposed on a hunting one, nor does it have the ambition to become one. AB's objective, in fact, is not to create new hunting reserves, but to systematize 14% of the Italian agro-forestry-pastoral territory, within which they are located; therefore that of generating economy on the territory, to the benefit of both the hunting and the agricultural world.
How does the new association deal with article 842 of the Civil Code?
For the CNCN, article 842 of the civil code is the regulatory pillar for the management of hunting activities in our country and this has never been questioned, indeed it is a concept reiterated several times by the Committee also during the meetings of the Cabin. of direction. Consequently, the CNCN, through the activities it carries out daily and for years, works in defense of “social” hunting, in full compliance with article 842 and the current faunal and environmental management laws. The same will apply to the new AB association.
Isn't there a risk of overturning the Law 157 of 1992?
The AB Association is not born in conflict with any law or regulation. Consistent with law 157, AB recognizes that fauna is a central component in game reserves, and the birth of an association like this will pay particular attention to these ecosystems, which we have called "oasis of biodiversity" and will help generate a culture the importance of its management. In relation to and in full compliance with law 157 of 1992, the CNCN has always pursued objectives for the protection of biodiversity and for sustainable hunting, and firmly believes in the importance of protecting and encouraging the development of agricultural activities on the territory, through the promotion management of the hunting exercise in harmony with the available environmental and wildlife heritage.
The positions of the hunting associations are very different from each other, how is it possible to standardize the judgment?
The collaboration of hunting associations is a topic on which the control room has been working for some time, which the CNCN has been actively following since its inception by providing an operational secretarial service. Therefore, we have always been at the forefront to help the hunting world towards a process of unitary representation before institutions, politics and public opinion. In general, we believe that taking an important step towards the recognition of the objectives set by AB should be viewed favorably by the hunting associations, also with a view to strengthening our representation at the institutions, given that for years a greater collaboration between the hunting and agricultural world.
Communication has so far proved insufficient to raise public awareness, why should it be more effective with the Biodiversitalia Agrivenatory Association?
Communication is certainly an area in which we will continue to invest in order to increasingly become the reference for the entire agrivenatory sector. We must recognize that the AB Association was created with the aim of filling a void of representation in the relationship between agricultural companies, the agricultural world and that of institutions and will also work on this to raise public awareness. With AB we will finally have the opportunity to communicate more effectively and directly to all interested parties and, above all, to give assistance and added value to a strategic sector for Italy which, up to now, has had unexpressed potential. .
What will be the role of the school in this beginning of AB's path?
It will undoubtedly play an important role. Within the schools, AB will begin a process of raising awareness of its objectives and the services made available by the wildlife and hunting farms, useful for generating economy on an important slice of the Italian agrosilvopastoral territory. The realization of didactic and scientific projects will also be useful in suggesting solutions to face the environmental challenges and the preservation of ecosystems with a long-term strategy, actively involving students in the area. In addition to schools, the collaborations that AB intends to forge with local authorities, institutions and associations that are involved in the management and enhancement of the territory and in the protection of biodiversity will be fundamental.
