Il National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago is moving to make the mouflon selection plan. This is the activity that concerns the Island of Elba, specifically the capture and killing of these animals. The plan has already received the favorable opinion from ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), therefore the conditions seem more than good. The intervention must be correct both from a technical and a scientific point of view, without neglecting the smallest detail.
According to what was reported by Maurizio Burlando, director of the Park Authority, there could be important initiatives in the coming months. Simply put, there is an awareness that the problem exists and that the park itself can do its part in this regard. This topic has always been very "thorny" as far as Elba is concerned, so it is necessary to go there with lead feet.
Among other things, the discussion on the mouflon went hand in hand with that of the results of this and next year. In 2018, in particular, visitors to the area increased significantly, a fact that goes against the trend with the whole of the tourism sector of our country. At the same time, the results to be achieved were planned in 2019, always with a hint of ambition.
