La wildlife it is a serious and urgent problem for many Italian regions and Tuscany is no exception. The damage to the agricultural sector is enormous, without forgetting road accidents and the difficulties encountered in compensation. In Siena it was decided to adopt important measures. The Province and the Region can no longer bear the vineyards destroyed by ungulates and for this reason a containment plan was adopted to kill the roe deer.
The population is constantly increasing and now it also seems out of control. The plan will officially start over the next few weeks and will cover five areas: the first is the one around Siena, while the others will be Castelnuovo Berardenga, Poggibonsi, Monteroni d'Arbia and Ville di Corsano. The details of the containment are soon said. Roe deer can also be killed within the ZRC (Restocking and Capture Areas), areas where hunting is closed.
Six years later, Tuscany has chosen to restart this levy also in the areas where the no shooting, a drastic but necessary measure. The areas are those of the province managed by the “Siena Nord” Hunting Territorial Area. Simone Bezzini and Stefano Scaramelli, regional councilors of the Democratic Party, expressed their appreciation for the measure adopted.
