THEwolf emergency it is always a very current topic in Italy, particularly in the Piedmont area. That's why the Pro Loco of Trisobbio, municipality in the province of Alessandria and one of the main localities ofUpper Monferrato, announced the start of a monitoring of the species during 2018. The aim is to ascertain the presence of the wolf in the part of the Apennines that is closest to the territory. This is the first scientific monitoring in three years now, as a number of interesting information was collected in 2015.
Everyone is recognizing the impact of wolves in this area of Piedmont, as well as the "colonization" of theLigurian-Piedmontese Apennines. According to the rangers, the presence of the animal would have advantages, in particular the regulation of the number of wild boars and roe deer, among its favorite prey. Poaching has created a lot of confusion and pets are not safe, therefore, the control of the wolves must be even more intense.
According to what emerged in recent meetings, the main problem is represented by hybrid specimens, which are not frightened in any way by man and who are used to attack even when they are not threatened. In addition to monitoring (containment plans are not excluded based on the numbers that will emerge in the coming weeks), the knowledge of citizens must be strengthened, in order to avoid risky mistakes when choosing areas for hiking or picnics.
