Song thrush, redwing and blackbird
The 17th European Championship of imitation of birdsong. The competition was attended by teams of whistlers representing France, Spain and Italy. In the Turdidae category – that is, the imitation of the song of the song thrush, redwing, and blackbird – the Italian team consisted of three Tuscans: Enrico Berto from Mugello, Graziano Manganelli from Terranuova Bracciolini, and Paolo Pasqualetti from San Casciano in Val di Pesa. In this category, thanks to first place in the imitation of the song of the redwing and two second places in the imitation of the song thrush and the blackbird, Paolo Pasqualetti won first place overall in the individual event, thus confirming himself as European champion for the fourth time.
An exceptional interpreter
Federcaccia Toscana / Unione Cacciatori Toscani is particularly pleased to announce the news because Paolo, in addition to being an exceptional interpreter of the ancient art of spring songs, is also a member of our association. Also in the “Turdidae” category, two other podiums were conquered by Graziano Manganelli, third place in the imitation of redwing and blackbird, while Enrico Berto was classified in fourth place in the three species of thrushes. In the category of the song of “other” birds (other than thrushes), first place was conquered by Claudio Pin from Friuli.
Large audience
By calculating the scores acquired in the individual of the two categories (“Turdidi” and “Diversi”), Italy also won the European Team Championship: a very significant result since it was obtained in the home of the French, who are very passionate about this art, so much so that the competition was attended by a large audience – over three hundred people – and knowledgeable. Federcaccia Toscana/Unione Cacciatori Toscani therefore expresses its warmest congratulations to Paolo Pasqualetti, Claudio Pin and all the members of the Italian team.
