Hunting and Hunters: animal activists delight in playing with the dead by inflating hunting accidents in the season just ended.
The Lega Abolizione Caccia continues to include deaths from heart attacks and accidental falls in the count, which has been inflated to 56 deaths. Associazione Vittime della Caccia had to run for cover with a clarification because their data - deliberately unclear - through the journalistic synthesis process of an online newspaper reached the figure of 100 deaths in 2013. “The hunting season that has just ended unfortunately recorded 15 deaths due to hunting. On this we need to be clear and not to turn around the words, even if they are painful. Even a single death will always be too much but the data must be disseminated for what it is and not artificially inflated to create social alarm, as unfortunately for years the Association Victims of Hunting and, above all, Lega Abolizione Caccia have been doing “. The position taken by the CNCN (National Hunting and Nature Committee) is clear, which for years has been carrying out a study on hunting accidents, with analyzes and initiatives to increase safety. In this sense, the figure for the 2013-2014 season records a 40% decrease in victims compared to last year, a decrease that can only be denied with linguistic or methodical tricks.
HUNTING ABOLITION LEAGUE - The “Di Caccia Si Muore” report of the Hunting Abolition League is available online and is updated day by day. Any person can go to the site and verify that the rate of 56 “hunting” deaths is actually culpably inflated with illnesses, heart attacks and accidental slips. That is, causes completely unrelated to hunting as such. There is no excuse for those who disseminate these data without specifying, given the error of method aimed simply at creating social alarm.
HUNTING VICTIMS ASSOCIATION - The AVC has become aware that heart attacks and falls are not hunting accidents, however it uses other tricks - this time linguistic - to inflate the figures of the final report kept secret until it was released in early February. He speaks of "victims" without specifying whether dead or injured, thus giving very high numbers, for hunting weapons, distinguishing in theory between those of "hunting" and "extra-venatory" (?). The link between the two is the weapon, but the assumption that the total number falls within the danger of hunting is totally elusive. This year then the nebulosity of the data, especially the use of the term "victims" intended as wounded and dead, has caused a distortion in the title of a news that after all cannot be attributed only to the newspaper. If the AVC decides in the future to distribute more precise data, using clear terms such as dead and wounded and avoiding to insert incidents that have nothing to do with hunting in the strict sense, it will not have to resort to hasty denials and clarifications.
“The hunting world has been looking for maximum security for years - conclude by the CNCN - and the improvements, clear and documented, are under the eyes of any citizen without ideological preclusions. Avoiding hunting accidents is an objective that interests hunters first of all, as is evident, who also for this reason consider the continuous attacks of those who play with the dead to make news more and more inappropriate ”.
