The rejection of the TAR
Following the Decree of the President of the Third Section of the Palermo TAR n.417/23 which, having seen the Hunting Calendar and the appeal presented by some environmentalist Associations, rejected, with its own Monocratic Decree, the request for suspension of the CV setting, for the collective discussion, the council chamber on 18 September 2023. Everything would seem very clear, but in fact a whirlwind chase was unleashed to establish who was responsible for the suspension. As the Italian Hunting Federation and the Sicilian Hunting Federation we immediately reported, without claiming any merit, how the facts went. We fully agree with what was declared by the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, the Hon. Luca Sammartino, who in an interview reported that the Palermo Regional Administrative Court acknowledged the correctness of the procedure implemented by the rural development department in drafting the hunting calendar .
The merits specifically
Obviously we agree with what Councilor Sammartino said because the only merit is of the responsible offices, with which we all collaborate to a certain extent, and it is for this reason that no one should claim particular merits. For our part, we can affirm that we have always given our contribution, thanks mainly to our Faunistic and Agro-environmental Studies and Research Office. We must recognize that the Sicilian Hunting Federation, with which we have been discussing hunting issues for some time, has also made a valid contribution with its technicians. We hope that this dialogue that we have started with the Siciliana Caccia can be extended to other Hunting Associations available for team play.
The pre-opening of the hunt
The pre-opening for turtle doves (2-3 and 6 September) and wood pigeons (2-3-6-9 and 10 September), legitimized by the Ispra opinion, has been ensured while for wild rabbits we will have to wait a few more days to know the hunting season. The CRFV on the 29th of next will discuss the wild rabbit census data. The general opening was recognized and set for 17 September. After 18 September, the day in which the Palermo Tar council chamber will meet to rule on the merits of the Hunting Calendar, we will know what decisions will be taken. The Italian Hunting Federation, always close to hunters, will be present at the chamber hearing on 18 September, considering that this is the place to assert the legitimate rights of the hunting world.
