Maffei's words
Precisely at the end of 2023, the alarm raised by the president was reported on the web Christian Maffei during the National Council of his Association. An alarm regarding the privatization attempt set up "by a part of the agricultural and political world with the complicity of the major hunting associations". According to President Maffei's theory, Libera Caccia, which with its 80.000 members is the second national hunting association, should be part of this "clique" which aims to privatize Italian hunting.

We are sorry that the authoritative hunting manager has not only such confused ideas as to place us among the privatizers of hunting, but also a short memory, given that he forgets the indignant (and worried) reaction of the Anlc when, in July last year, Coldiretti and Cncn presented Agrivenatoria Biodiversitalia and that aroused some anger against us. Ours was an indignant reaction, because the establishment of such an association had been planned without a minimum of prior consultation with the entire hunting associations and sponsored by a pool also made up of some hunting associations, among which - obviously - it was certainly not Free Hunting present.
Right and proper distances
But it was also a worried reaction because the new association presented, in our opinion, some obscure points and lent itself to a dangerous private drift that Italian hunters really don't need. So President Maffei, who we understand still sits alongside some of these associations, instead of launching the same alarms that we raised a year and a half ago, would do well to first distance himself from those who, according to him, is plotting against social hunting, instead of remaining with both feet (source: ANLC).
