Vito Genco, the silent disappearance of a reserved and shy man cannot prevent him from being given a unanimous and heartfelt thanks.
It would probably be useless to ask the representatives of national and international shooters and hunters who the dr. Vito Genco, one of the most authoritative and important man for the whole world of sporting weapons and ammunition, who left us at the beginning of June. A lack of knowledge, this, of which one cannot and should not be surprised, and which derives directly from the modesty and confidentiality that have characterized his whole life. Including his epilogue, which was surrounded by a reserve as sober as it is absolute.
It is useless to look for this extraordinary world interpreter on the pages of social networks or in the more or less worldly news: all his decades-long work was constantly in the spotlight of the politicians and rulers of the world but the man who produced it was always wrapped in the cone of shadow reserved for the direction. His deep technical and scientific preparation, deriving from a degree in geochemistry, quickly led him - we are in the eighties - to the top of one of the most important Italian companies in the sector with over 14.000 employees, SNIA BPD chaired by Cesare Romiti and whose The Chief Executive Officer was Enrico Bondi.
A cultural and professional background, that of dr. Genco, which over the years has proved essential to enrich the experience and preparation of many companies in the Italian sporting arms and ammunition sector. Suffice it to say that precisely in the years in which he was managing SNIA BPD in Colleferro, on the initiative of this company, Beretta, Fiocchi and other prestigious brands, ANPAM (1980) and CNCN (1986) were founded, which immediately demonstrated all their importance, managing to contrast very complex problems with great effectiveness, such as the explosion of the armory in the Tiburtino district in Rome and the first three anti-arms and anti-hunt referendums.
It was precisely in the violent social and political turbulence of those years that the unparalleled capacity for synthesis and mediation of this manager emerged, supported by a preparation that, very soon, he was able to transfer not only to the Italian "arms" sector, but within of a scenario that, inevitably, was becoming more and more global. For over twenty years, Dr. Genco has held the prestigious position of Vice President of ANPAM, contributing with rigor to the notarial respect of its statutory connotations as a non-partisan association and independent from any external influence. A careful and precious vice-presidency that has allowed the Body to avoid any influence or deviation beyond the protection of the general and collective interests of the Associated Companies; with the aim of collaborating in the study and resolution of problems concerning the industries represented and promoting an uninterrupted series of initiatives of common interest between the associated companies and other bodies.
The activity in the European field is also intense as, at the same time as this important national function, dr. Vito Genco first held the position of President and then Secretary General of AFEMS (European Association of Sporting Ammunition Manufacturers) becoming, in recent years, Senior Advisor. In 1997 his international career then recorded a further and even more prestigious turning point with the appointment as Secretary General for Europe of the WFSA (World Forum on the Future of Sport Shooting Activities), the non-governmental body on the future of activities. shooting sports, born within the world community that recognizes itself in the practice of sports and activities (such as hunting) that involve the use of weapons, with the stimulating objective of supporting and defending all stakeholders, promoting the activity hunting and sports with weapons.
The last and most authoritative international recognition of his work was, finally, the appointment as President of the WFSA, a role of global importance if one thinks of the presence of this body within the Economic and Social Council of the UN. To the formidable scientific knowledge and the profound political-managerial experience, dr. Vito Genco also combined an uncommon skill in the use of modern information technologies and an excellent command of English, French and Spanish, which he spoke and wrote fluently.
The silent disappearance of a reserved and shy man cannot and must not prevent him from being given a unanimous and heartfelt thanks from the whole world of weapons and sporting activities that he found in dr. Vito Genco a strenuous and prepared defender.
The Anpam has decided to dedicate to the memory of Dr. Genco the competition announcement for degree prizes for the best theses dedicated to the study and deepening of regulatory, technical or market issues, relating to weapons, explosives and ammunition for the civil market, which will be delivered on the occasion of the celebration of the National Study Conference on the discipline of weapons which takes place every year in April in Brescia.
A simple gesture of thanks for what dr. Genco and to perpetuate his memory, hoping it will be of comfort to the family to which the Association's deepest condolences go.
