ANPAM, on the massacre at the Court of Milan, in its own official note replies to subsequent declarations of a different nature: "Condolences for the victims but the causes are not found by pointing the finger at an alleged, and absolutely not true, proliferation of weapons in Italy . The law exists, there was no one who enforced it ”.
The ANPAM expresses great condolences for the victims of what happened in the Court of Milan, it has always considered itself a reality that acts and promotes legality on all fronts, as well highlighted by the recognition of a Non-Governmental Organization at the UN at the Ecosoc . Having said this, a reflection on what happened, but above all on the reconstructions that have taken place in recent days, is necessary both for the love of truth and not to throw hundreds of thousands of families into despair who cannot be held responsible for what happened. It is not the arms manufacturers who are responsible for the freedom with which Giardiello, an unpredictable personality and already condemned for threats, still held weapons. There was a serious shortage on the part of those who had to control the use and possession of the weapons themselves. For personal history and because of the conviction for a crime against the person, Giardiello could and should have been prevented from holding weapons. To do this, it was not necessary to add even a line to the codes, an effective control and enforce the law by the competent institutions would have been enough.
Italy is the first producer of sporting and civilian weapons in Europe but, thanks to an export of 90%, it is also the country where there are fewer weapons in circulation (11,9 per 100 inhabitants while in Finland there are 45,3, France 31,2, Sweden 31,6 and Germany 30,3 as also reported by L'Espresso on a source from the European Commission). That is, we are one third of the presence of weapons compared to our neighbors. The problem therefore, once again, is not in the number of weapons in circulation and those who point the finger at them do so because they know that in this way it is easy to gather consensus, not to find the true causes of what happened.
