La freedom of expression it is the basis of a democratic society, it is a guarantee of confrontation and opinion but the border with slander and offense is always very blurred. A billboard, posted by the usual animal rights activists in Sant'Eufemia last Monday, is causing a stir among Brescia hunters; in addition to the usual obvious phrases of criticism of hunting has as a background two gigantic bloody hands, even dripping with blood. The photo is more reminiscent of the work of a butcher, in Brescia we call it "masadur" but evidently in the minds of the clients the photo should represent in some way, in our opinion very imaginative as well as offensive, hunting. They are usual ravings of those who have set their sights in every way the abolition of hunting and pursues the objective in every way, lawful, since we imagine that the billboard has been authorized by the competent offices of the municipality of Brescia, and less lawful, such as slander.
And these animal welfare associations pursue their own goals spending good money, theirs for charity, but in a totally selfish way precisely, because they have only one goal to pursue, to achieve. The hunting world, Federcaccia and the other Brescia associations, on the other hand, spent their money, a lot, to support the health facilities of Brescia and Lombardy in March in full pandemic and the Italian hunters donated almost two million euros from the Alps to Sicily while the animal welfare and environmental associations asked the state for money because the number of registrations had collapsed ruinously.
Here are animal rights activists, because you will not have an easy life against us: because we are in civil society, we are part of it, we have our strengths and our defects like everyone else, we are trying to evolve but we are still an integral part of Brescia and Lombardy society. This concept should also be clearer to the many officials of ministries, regional offices and even some other institutions: we are an important part of our society. The only feeling that pervades us when we think of hunting is the pride of being hunters and the only emotion that takes us from head to toe is passion. Spend all the money you want on billboards, even make commercials on radio and television but in the end all your efforts will be in vain because in civil society we are there, in a thousand streams, with thousands of our subscribers that in a myriad of ways make themselves liked.
Some hunters complain wondering why the associations have done nothing to avoid the posting of these posters. First, hunting associations do not have censorship duties and do not deal with advertising spaces. Second point how could we have known about it in advance? Third point we have already officially asked if the posters have all the authorizations and our lawyers are assessing whether there are grounds for proceeding legally seen the offensive images. But the sound doesn't change: animal rights activists spend money to criticize and attack hunting and hunters spend money to donate equipment to hospitals, ambulance volunteers, who suffers.
And six hunters were able, but we need the funds and not the words of the usual socialized keyboard players, to carry out habitat redevelopment initiatives we would have formidable concrete examples available to all citizens of how the environment can be improved and what are the objective causes of the impoverishment of species and natural environments. But it takes a major effort on the part of all hunting associations, some of which are instead committed in every way to discredit colleagues in order to increase by a few members. Federcaccia has already formulated proposals, we have already said what a project can be to pursue together without losing one's identity.
A few euros per hunter would be enough and we could recover great satisfaction both towards animal rights activists and towards that bureaucracy that continually treacherously opposes the hunting activity. It only takes a strong shared will: together, all hunters can still say a lot, isolated and divided they remain only masters of the keyboards of their PCs and smartphones and little more. Over 50.000 Lombard hunters united not under a flag but for a concrete and shared project, they could have a decisive, strong, authoritative impact. Let's overcome futile and banal divisions together and let's focus on fighting those who laugh at today for having exposed a poster in bad taste!
