Research on migratory flows through ringing continues; a sparrow hawk was found in France in Italy.
A Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), one of the very common diurnal birds of prey in the Italian territory, ringed by Stefano Milesi, head of the Wildlife Recovery Center of Valpredina (BG), and released in the municipality of Calolziocorte (LC) on 7 August 2007, was found dead after 240 days, 420 km away, in Salonde Provence, Camargue (France) on April 3, 2008.
The discovery, communicated by ISPRA, always arouses the interest of those who work in the field in the study of migrations and who dedicate their time to discover the various movements that birds make during their natural life.
This data also adds to the many already collected and which for more than a hundred years, thanks to the fundamental scientific activity of ringing, have been an important source for the traceability of migratory routes.
