The Roman hunting associations wrote to the governor of Lazio region, Nicola Zingaretti, and to the extraordinary commissioner Angelo ferrari. This is the text of the letter signed by Italian Federation of Hunting, National Free Hunting Association, AnuuMigrators, Enalcaccia, Arci Caccia, Italcaccia ed Game Producers Authority"This appeal starts from the premise that the hunting world, aware of the responsibility that society attributes to it in the protection and management of wildlife, is strongly concerned about the African Swine Fever epidemic that has hit the wild boar species and is in danger of spreading. to the pig farms present in the area, creating considerable damage to the relative supply chain which represents an important share of the national GDP.
To this end, the hunters have made their technical baggage and human resources available to the Community, at the request of the Public Administration and the agricultural world to contribute to the censuses on the species, the search for carcasses and the substantial containment in areas not suited . In the face of this declared availability, we are saddened to note that the local administrations, in particular the Lazio Region and the competent ASLs, do not offer the tools to comply with the requirements set out in device number 4 of the Extraordinary Commissioner and to follow up on the drafting of the protocols required to the ATCs, necessary to allow the regular execution of the plans.
The Roman Hunting Associations recognized by Law 157/92, which represent an important percentage of hunters / citizens of the Region, therefore draw the attention of the competent authorities so that they carry out their tasks, and do not delegate their competences beyond the risk of further prolonging a a situation that has in the rapidity of action one of the fundamental requisites to achieve a positive result by contrasting, moreover, the harmful effects that the overabundance of the species has on agriculture, road safety and daily life. With the hope that this appeal will be accepted, we renew our willingness to collaborate for the protection of public health and the regional and national economy.".
