Massimo Caleo, Senator of the Democratic Party and Vice-President of the Environment Commission, commented on the approval of the reform on protected areas, Framework Law 394 of 1991. According to Caleo, rapporteur of the bill, it was a "version 2.0" capable of improving and relaunch the work of the parks: this reform inevitably has consequences for the hunting world. In addition to governance of the parks themselves and to the simplification from the administrative point of view, there are in fact some news regarding the wildlife control.
In particular, the explicit ban on hunting in parks has been introduced: management plans will come drawn up on the basis of the opinion of ISPRA to contain the species that can cause damage to biodiversity and human safety. Among the methods is the capture, in addition todejection but as a last resort.
The management of the hunt will be different. Specifically, the rules will be decided by the park authority after having heard the Region and theTerritorial area of hunting who is competent. The same body will decide bans and prescriptions from the hunting point of view, with times and methods that will be incorporated in the calendars. Among other things, the reform has established new parks, that of Matese, in the province of Caserta, and that of Portofino.
