Arci Caccia and FIdC together in San Miniato, in the province of Pisa, at a conference to talk about the hunter and his role.
What comes from San Miniato is a turning point. The challenge of a hunt with a new face, more modern and more self-aware, aware of its role and finally more united, without skimping on reflections and some self-criticism. This was the common thread of the national conference entitled "The hunter: a resource for the territory", organized last Saturday by Federcaccia and Arcicaccia of San Miniato (PI) in the frame of the "I Cappuccini" Study Center. At the opening of the conference, the Prefect of Pisa Francesco Tagliente did not want to miss for a greeting. From his words, thanks for the collaboration shown by hunters in general and in particular by those coordinated by Federcaccia and Arcicaccia in the research of Roberta Ragusa. «You are fundamental links - said the Prefect, addressing the hunters - between the territory and the Institutions. We cannot miss the opportunity to have sentries like the ones you represent. The hunters - he underlined in a much appreciated passage - are the people of the territories trodden by others, eyes and ears of the State on the territory ». Both the public was present for a morning of study and knowledge on the role and activity of the hunter, which also represented an opportunity to reaffirm the recent agreement signed at the regional level between the two hunting associations for a "Confederation", obviously open also to other associations and projected for the future towards a single Tuscan hunting association, a prelude to a single national dimension.
A need for cohesion also highlighted by the provincial presidents of Federcaccia and Arcicaccia Marco Salvadori and Manolo Panicucci, but above all by the passionate appeal of the national president of Federcaccia Gian Luca Dall'Olio: "Because the crushing has pulverized our identity - explained Dall ' Oil - with negative effects on our image in public opinion and towards the state and institutions. The unity of the hunting world is an indispensable step, because it would also allow a different awareness of our role, which cannot yet be considered as a simple playful activity.
The hunter must tend to worry and take care of all the fauna, the environment and biodiversity as a whole. Only in this way will we be able to regenerate the perception that society has of our world ». A world, however, largely unknown, as pointed out at the beginning by the secretary of the Federcaccia di San Miniato Piero Taddeini, who coordinated the debate. “The polls - explained the data in hand - show that the percentage of people opposed to hunting is proportional to the lack of knowledge of the subject. We need an immediate change, with new strategies and mentalities. Taddeini then recalled the role of associations in the control of ungulates, in the protection of agricultural activities, as well as the projects carried out in the territory of San Miniato together with the administration: from first aid kits in rural areas to knowledge initiatives with schools. ".
An effort to open up to the territory, also to overcome what the national vice president of Arci Caccia, Massimo Logi, defined as "the self-referentiality of the hunter, who from now on - he added - must be able to send a convincing message, even to young people , combining tradition and modernity ". A role, that of the hunter, on which the regional councilor for Rural Development Gianni Salvadori has no doubts, who however launched an alarm bell on the "environmental imbalance created by ungulates and some species of birds - said Salvadori - which they are causing harm to nature. It will be a problem to be tackled decisively ”.
Interesting, on the subject, the intervention of Professor Natale Emilio Baldaccini of the University of Pisa and member of CIRSeMAF, who analyzed the relationship between hunting and biodiversity, underlining how agriculture, conservation and hunting activities are "the three legs" of environmental balance. To accompany and lighten the debate there was also the pencil of the well-known satirical cartoonist Giuliano Rossetti, who gave some sketches of humor dedicated to hunting. A healthy and healthy activity according to the national president of the Italian Coaching Association Renzo Ulivieri: “Activity that is linked to health - he said - understood not only on a physical level, but as mental and social health”.
Finally, an eye to gastronomy could not be missing, through the culinary advice of the president of the Restaurateurs Association of San Miniato Marco Nebbiai, who collaborated in the creation of a small recipe book on game distributed at the conference. Among those present also the municipal councilor for wildlife-hunting activities Giacomo Gozzini and the mayor of San Miniato Vittorio Gabbanini, the regional vice-president of Federcaccia Claudio Tani representing the President Moreno Periccioli, absent for urgent commitments, the regional president of Arcicaccia Fabio Lupi , the national president of Enci Francesco Balducci. To underline the presence of young boys and girls, further proof that hunting also knows how to keep up with the times.
