Request rejected
Sicilian animal rights associations have filed an appeal against the hunting calendar 2024-25. The TAR denied the suspension and set the council chamber for September 25. This is the statement made by the Regional President of Arci Caccia Leopoldo Vernagallo: "With reference to the two decrees of the TAR, the one on Saturday that postponed until today the decision on the possible acceptance of the request for precautionary suspension, to allow the Councilor to appear in court and present defense briefs on the contested Hunting Calendar, and the one today with which the request was rejected, we must say that we welcome with surprise, but also with favor, the new approach adopted by the president of the TAR in addressing the issue of the so-called "suspension", which in the past was issued suddenly, taking us all by surprise".
ISPRA opinion
“We therefore believe that, in the council chamber, the hunting calendar – this year further enriched by solid technical-scientific reasons to support the various points in which the administration has diverged from the opinion of ISPRA – can also overcome the collegial judgment, scheduled for next September 25th”.
Solid management
"This result was also possible thanks to the monitoring of the wild rabbit for 2024, as prescribed by ISPRA, which was conducted with great professionalism and competence, highlighting a significant recovery of the species despite the adverse weather and climate conditions and fires. The environmentalist battles are finally starting to confront the solid management of the last two hunting calendars, curated by the regional administration, in particular by Dr. Bellomo and Dr. Paci, to whom we extend our sincere thanks for their commitment".
