Increase in quota
Arci Caccia Toscana, with a note sent to the Region, has expressly requested an increase in the quota of collapsible starlings in derogation which would allow the season to be extended until its natural end.
The text of the letter
This is the text: “Dear Vice President Saccardi, given the prolongation of the olive harvest season, present this year in large quantities, and the concomitant good progress of the derogation collection of the starling species, which has led to the achievement of the objectives regarding the animals culled and to a substantial reduction in damage, we are requesting that the Region take action to obtain from ISPRA the extension of the quota of starlings in derogation, from the 20000 already reached to 30000, as foreseen in the opinion issued by the Institute".
Damage containment
The note continues: “Similarly, we would like to ask the administration to take action so that, in the next season, in order to maintain the results obtained in damage containment, the quota of starlings that can be killed is increased to 30000 heads right from the start.".
