Arci Caccia Piedmont issued a statement on the recent protest of the hunters and on the new regional law. Here are the words of the note: About 6000 followers of Diana participated in the event, representing all the recognized and non-recognized associations, the long procession unfolded, starting from Piazza Vittorio Veneto along the beautiful Via Po, to finish under the Palazzo della Regione in Piazza Castello, there a delegation was received by the President Sergio Chiamparino and the Councilor Giorgio Ferrero.
As Arci Caccia we reiterated our opposition to the law during the meeting, especially to some articles, like art. 2 where the closure of 15 huntable species is sanctioned, and Article 21 where the hunt is closed on the Sundays of September, we believe that these articles and others, are the result of ideological positions and little institutional sense. Up to the end we have tried to make a technical and scientific contribution in the drafting of the text, with an approach for the protection of a social hunt at the service of that wildlife management indispensable for the defense of the rural economy, of the landscape, of traditions.
In response we found a council that has not been able to take the responsibilities due, leaving space within it for an ideological minority, today we are here to see the approval of the text with all the damage it will cause to the environment, the agricultural world and our passion. The demonstration in Turin will certainly not be the starting point of our protest, but the beginning of a long battle, against an unjust and socially unjust law, which primarily penalizes the workers who have Sunday only free day to devote to their passion. As Arci Caccia we can no longer tolerate oppressive and discriminating attitudes towards who we represent.
