Weapons: Brescia, according to the data released by the Police Headquarters, there is an increase in the licenses for firearms for sporting use, but those for hunting use are decreasing.
Brescia seems to like more and more to shoot. But not for the hunting, but as a sport. The data released on Friday 24 July by the Brescia Police Headquarters, which compared the request of the firearms license in the first seven months of 2014 with those of 2015. But there is a real crisis for hunting enthusiasts, given that applications for hunting use have dropped by 80%. In 2014 there were 3.514 general requests for weapons, while this year they are over 4, mainly for sport. The crisis in the hunting sector, linked to the laws, to the resentments that often lead to controversy and to the decline in passion in young people, is seen in the lower number of new releases and renewals. On the contrary, in the sports field there is a real “boom”.
On the one hand, the possibility of spending free time in some discipline and the lower cost of the license on the other, lead to an increase in arms sales. In the first seven months of the year, 875 new permits were issued, while in 2014 there were just over 500. Instead, the renewed permits doubled from 500 to over 1.000. In 2015, there was talk of 4.192 requests for firearms licenses, of which 2.228 for hunting and 1.964 for sport. Almost identical numbers.
