Il plan for the collection of fallow deer prepared by The Tuscan Regional Authority theTerritorial Hunting Area of Siena. The ATC made it known through a statement. After having recalled that the collection is also possible in non-suitable areas and that the Objective Law on ungulates aims to reduce the populations of wild boar, red deer, roe deer and fallow deer, an abatement plan of approx 1500 specimens.
The document had been sent to the Region for approval, but the opinion of ISPRA had imposed a cut in the total number of heads up to 900 units and with assignments of quantities defined as "ridiculous". However, the 927 fallow deer to be killed are not considered sufficient by the Sienese ATC. The problem is represented by ISPRA, judged a body "detached from the local reality" and which continues to curtail regional plans.
However, the ambit itself has decided not to stand by and watch. In fact, what is a paradoxical and no longer sustainable situation has been strongly denounced: to agricultural associations, hunting associations and consortia for the protection of wines was asked to mobilize alongside the hunters to achieve real management of wild populations.
