Il Regional Council of Liguria explained why the hunt was not suspended following the climatic calamities of recent weeks. In particular, the clarification became necessary after the presentation of an interpellation by the 5 Star Movement on the matter. The councilor Marco DeFerrari he asked on behalf of the whole group the reasons why hunting activities throughout the region had not been blocked, a measure that for M5S would have made the ecosystems and natural habitats recover.
The answer came from Stefano Mai, regional councilor for agriculture. According to the latter, bad weather mainly affected the coastal area of Liguria, while the hinterland was involved in a marginal way and without new protection provisions being established. The most important wildlife species are found inland of hunting interest.
He also never stressed that there have been no reports of particular criticalities and no requests for interruption of the hunt by the bodies in charge of this. In Veneto the situation is decidedly different, with the ban on hunting that has been extended in several areas (Belluno in the first place) just to allow a recovery after the adversity of bad weather.
