Benelli Argo Endurance Pro: it has not been long since the presentation of the Endurance version of the Argo striped semiauto that a version dedicated to lovers of functionality combined with elegance is promptly proposed to the market: the Progressive Comfort.
di Emmanuel Tabasso
In examining the Argo semiautomatic rifle in its recent Endurance version it was possible to appreciate the work done in modifying some parts of the weapon, making its use even more functional and providing it with a more marked resistance to the neglect of many owners who abandon the shotgun after repeated use without removing the sedimentation of dirt with easily imaginable results; moreover, a series of advantages in terms of objective safety have been provided such as to make it classified at the highest levels of the specifications usually referred to military weapons. The fundamental and continuous technical choices are clearly identifiable in the replaceable barrel fixed to the breech sheath connected to the light alloy castle, in the bolt in two parts interconnected with the rotating head equipped with three front closure flaps with mortises obtained directly in the extension of breech, in the apparatus of the gas outlet which keeps the base fixed to the barrel with screw grains.
The first changes concern the gas intake where in the new model stainless steel is adopted instead of the light alloy, as well as for the piston and the rod on which it is invested. Originally piston and impulsor form a single body while here the two parts are divided and the front one with the two struts is kept in alloy considering how this material is highly reliable for the work to be done and the almost absence of dirt collected during use. We still see the two pistons inserted in the front part of the castle retained, ready to receive the thrust from the impulsor, transmitting it to the bolt carrier.

The recovery system with connecting rod connected to the carriage and helical spring in the stock, the magazine with shaped sole, the trigger group including the guard in which the four fundamental commands of the trigger are arranged, the lever for the release of the shutter, safety button and arched button for magazine release. The specifications of the rifle's resistance to rough and accidental treatments such as falling on six sides from a height of 150 cm and on a concrete beaten are convincing proofs of a robust mechanics and, above all safe because not seeing the start of the shot when the rifle strikes with the muzzle of the barrel from such a height is very reassuring.
The stock and the very special are also part of the search for maximum functionality Comfortech, an ingenious Benelli patent, proves to be decidedly adequate to soften the recoil sensation with that mechanical energy absorption system enclosed in the series of trabeations, wedged by rubber inserts, for the flexion and relaxation of the whole. Then add up the possibility of adjusting the fold and the edge, the length of the stock / trigger ratio on three values (350/365/380 mm), the replacement of the anatomical butt pad and the nose pad to optimize the harness of the weapon according to your own physical complexion, also choosing in relation to the hunting to be practiced, therefore with a short harness for gritty and rapid shots or a longer one for a more thoughtful use, especially with optics.
Il Progressive Comforts
Benelli, who has always been very happy with this company motto, could not fail to see the raised eyebrows of a large number of potential customers who certainly applaud these technical innovations which are responsible for safety, functionality, ease of use, pleasant sensations when fired and brilliant results. : the modernity of the industrial design inaugurated by Argo has made it a model to be taken as an example, but the touch of class of a walnut stock of good caliber remains an unavoidable point of arrival for lovers of beauty and classicism. In fact, the stocks of this type were already planned with the hesitation of not being able to grant those who choose them the beautiful prerogatives of Comfortech: solution ready and served! The latest generation Raffaello smooth semiauto has already presented the Progressive stock which combines wood and a phenomenal butt pad which contains a gimmick, as simple to see as it is sophisticated in construction and functional in use.
Let's assume that it can only be observed in those exhibition specimens created for this purpose because the energy absorption and restitution system is completely included in the wood, perhaps the butt plate may seem a little thicker than usual, but the class and style of the natural material are absolutely not affected. It is added, and can really be granted also from a purely aesthetic point of view, the nose pad in absorbent soft material that isolates the cheekbone of the shooter from the vibration and impact generated by the shot. Perhaps finding a color of the synthetic material close to the warm brown of the wood could appear an extra finesse: in the current configuration the chromatic combination with the butt plate acts.
The operation described briefly is based on a double series of cantilevered blades, arranged in a comb and of different thickness, connected to the movable part of the butt plate and interconnected with a similar double row protruding from a support fixed to the football. The retrograde thrust of the shot compresses the stock against the butt plate, a resistant point is the shooter's shoulder, and the flexion induced between the blades takes place with increasing progression, functioning in a manner proportional to the energy developed by the cartridge. It is easy to understand how the reduction of the perceived recoil induces a lower detection of the weapon, a greater attention of the shooter on the target and above all on the shot allowing the achievement of better results. To complete the wood processing, we still find in the grip areas the Wood Touch checkering with triangular elements, guaranteeing a firm grip even with wet or even muddy hands.
Regarding the appearance and aesthetics factors that guided this new model, a particular aspect of the castle could not be overlooked: the light aluminum alloy with which it is made undergoes an exclusive electrocolouring treatment thanks to which special mineral salts are added to the electrolytic anodizing bath, bringing in the pores of the alloy the desired color: here we see the Brown chosen specifically to further highlight the wood of the stock. The resistance to external agents that derives from such a treatment is very high, a greater surface hardness is also obtained and, last but not least, the appearance gains a lot.
Innovative technology and classic tradition: here coexistence is perfect.
