“Benelli Arte” 2014, the winner of the competition for students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino awarded; the first prize winning work exhibited in front of the Fabbrica.
Benelli Armi and the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino, sponsors of the "Benelli Arte" Competition, met on Thursday 5 June at 12,00 in the new green area of the company, in via della Stazione 50, for the awarding of the fourth artistic appointment which ideally unites the two bodies chaired respectively by the Cavaliere del Lavoro, Eng. Luigi Moretti and the Hon. Giorgio Londei. In this oasis dedicated to art, built in less than forty days in the area in front of the Fabbrica, the winning work of the competition was installed, reserved for students of the Academy. The author of the creation - a bronze sling pointing to a lion at the entrance to the factory - is Gian Martino Cecere, which the Jury, made up of professionals from the Benelli world and academics, ranked first. The work is entitled “Courage” and freely interprets the myth of David and Goliath.
In second place was classified Francesco Lupo with the work “Oltre”, while the third place was attributed to Annalisa D'Annibale with “Untitled”. Numerous authorities from Urbino and the Province will take part in the award ceremony: in addition to Eng. Moretti and Hon. Londei the Vice President of the Cecilia Casadei Academy, the Director Sebastiano Guerrera, the Administrative Manager Massimo Castellucci, Prof. Giovanni Battista Sartore, the Mayor of Urbino Franco Corbucci, the Architect Marco Gaudenzi, the Benelli Directors in full with the curator of the project Eng. Massimiliano Nobile and a large representation of directors, executives, the company RSU as well as the main media in the area.
The “Benelli Arte” Award was launched in April 2009 on the initiative of Benelli Armi in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino. The announcement of the first competition by the Engineer Armida Oradei and Professor Pino Mascia, provided for the creation of a work in two panels of considerable size engraved with the laser. Among the various projects received, the artistic commission had chosen the work of the pupil Antonio Rastelli entitled “Changing dream of a fearless but naive prince charming”. The work, representative of the poetic tale filtered through a symbolic image of the toad and the frog, was placed at the entrance to the Benelli canteen, visible even at night thanks to a backlight that plays on the duplicity of the treated surfaces, where the perforated part which forms the dark in the day, becomes light in the night.
The following announcement concerned the creation of a 3 meter high bronze sculpture on the theme: “The ideal hunt and its environment”. The winning work, created by Annalisa D'Annibale and entitled "Detail of a Benelli rifle" was positioned in the green space in front of the company canteen. The winner of the first prize of the 2012 competition on the theme "Nature and the Journey" and entitled "The Falconer and the Eagle" is instead kept in the "Vinci" room of Benelli.
It is with enthusiasm that Benelli continues its support for art alongside the institutions of the Urbino area, a collaboration so profitable as to create an ad hoc artistic logo to be exhibited on all occasions in which Benelli and the Academy of Fine Arts will share common projects. , creating a combination of art and industry where elegance and design take shape in works of art.
