After trying one of the most current over-under in the sports sector of the Beretta, the Mod. 690 Sporting, we were able to devote ourselves to the visual examination and to a few series of targets with an example of the 687 series. initials EE.LL. represents for the House of Gardone the pinnacle of aesthetics and the reference to Diamond Pigeon a further confirmation of the class of the weapon to which the term Restyle defines and concludes the operation. The technical system rests on the well-tested deep U-shaped rocker with screwed-in half-pins and slots in the upper profile of the sides complementary to what is practiced in the breech monobloc, the well-known system for joining the barrels: here are the lugs and lateral enlargements for creating a contrast to the forward projection of the barrel group while rotation is prevented by two truncated conical struts, protruding from the rocker face and moved by the key, with seats obtained in the wall thickness of the monobloc.
The distribution of the masses and the discharge of the forces ensure stability under fire and, together with the excellent materials, a solidity to all test and a commendable operating life. The coils with helical springs are controlled by the single trigger of particular softness and precision: the button of the firing selector is recessed in the slide of the safety placed on the upper codetta. The 71cm barrels and chambered for the 12/76 gauge are of the Steelium in tri-alloy steel, with deep drilling and elongated slope of the cones to ensure lightness, low recoil, high shot speed and optimal distribution of the shot pattern in relation to the values of the interchangeable chokes, an alternative to the fixed ones.
In this specimen we see mounted the three stars and one star (*** / *) therefore with the right range of shot patterns for the first rod and the maximum useful range for the second as necessary, engaging the different types of game which the rifle is intended.

The adoption of long plates greatly expands the surface on which to exhibit the engraving, which has always been a qualifying element for the hunting rifle. In this specimen there was the floral engraving, alternatively there is the one with hunting scenes, performed by the Nuovo Cesello workshop: the laser work to which the artist's hand is added allows a correct saturation of the spaces with a defined result English dense scrolls combined with spirals that move the surface and ornamental motifs of marked depth and strong visual impact. Valuable incision continues also on the connections between the sides and the back of the action, possible with a particular 5-axis laser equipment. Beavertail forend, here quite tapered, falls perfectly in the hand allowing you to master the swing in any situation. The checkering with medium-fine pitch ensures a secure grip thanks to the well-raised cusps. A glance before putting the shotgun back in the special case allows you to evaluate the work as a whole by focusing attention on the details: this is how a lot of time still passes because the curiosity of the gunsmith is never satisfied enough.
