Beretta and World Environment Day
Today, June 5, is the world environment day. Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta has chosen this iconic date to activate a service for its employees, with obvious positive effects for the environment. For years, the issue of sustainability has been central to all the Company's actions: a continuous effort to give our contribution in mitigating the effects of what in technical jargon is called the "Carbon footprint". On this virtuous wave, the corporate carpooling project takes off. In the first months of the year, the entire population of Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta received a questionnaire which made it possible to create a real picture of how home-work travel is managed.
The activation of the tool
From the analysis of the questionnaire data – participation was truly significant – the possibility and need to activate the Carpooling tool clearly emerged. For this reason, the Company has decided to launch the service with the collaboration of Jojob, primary operator in this sector, in order to create a simple and intuitive IT platform that makes it pleasant and, therefore, encourages its use. “We are adding this initiative to the large group of actions linked in the name of BePlanet (Beretta for the Planet) – explains Carlo Ferlito, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta -. We have been committed to constantly and effectively reducing energy consumption at all levels for years: a sort of cultural revolution that sees us, Beretta men and women, at the center of everything.
What is
Furthermore, I hope this project will also bring benefits in the field of well-being and social relations: we can reduce the stress of looking for a parking space and promote knowledge and personal interactions between employees". The service allows several employees who share the same journey and the same times to plan regular travel between home and work with a single car, but also when necessary, with the aim of reducing fuel consumption and emissions of CO2, as well as reducing the pressure on traffic and on the car parks adjacent to the company (source: Beretta Armi).
