This period of October is creating serious problems for Nature, but in such a mild climate one can find some positive implications and the Indian summer comes to mind which, in North America, colors the territories in a wonderful way. Even with us it is enough to frequent the open spaces to be amazed by so much magnificence, as if it were always something new. Beretta organized a hunt for the Caccia Passione newspaper at theAAV Arborio, an entity of great interest for several reasons. You will not be sorry if we improperly continue to define hunting farms as "reserves": the term has remained with us from past times and in our mind it gives connotations to something where joy and fear, serenity and apprehension are added, but ultimately a passing of hours in great happiness.
La Arborio is the largest national reserve located in the territories of the upper Vercelli area, on the right of the Sesia river where rice fields, acacia and oak woods, poplar groves, bushes, maize crops, and then in autumn the stubble of the two cereal crops, all interspersed with floodplains, streams, canals and lakes derived from the river and suitable for creating the most favorable habitat for a considerable variety of wild species, both sedentary and migratory. Precisely these characteristics make the territory suitable for specialist hunting such as snipe, step ducks or woodcock.
The headquarters of the business occupies a large space with guarded parking for cars, the hunting lodge organized as a farmhouse with comfortable bedrooms and where the restaurant offers local cuisine and wines of various origins, with particular regard to the fine labels of the area that perfectly accompany the succulent dishes. The welcome is taken care of in every detail and even the auxiliaries of the hunters will have large boxes at their disposal where they can recover from the hunting enterprises: the variety of the many areas available offers adequate spaces for the different breeds and dog enthusiasts will be able to appreciate the work of the dogs in the dirty, following them step by step, or in the vast mowed fields where a wider search will be able to express itself at its best. And this is exactly what happened by trying alternating different rifles that the Beretta has made available to us starting from semi-automatic A400 Ultra Lite in 12/76 caliber and A400 Lite in 20/76 caliber which was joined by the 690 Field I series of over-and-under shots which featured four calibers and five examples: a classic 12/76 and followed by a 20/76 Vittoria caliber to represent the specific preparation of the stock for hunting ladies, another equal traditional caliber, and to follow the two small calibers, now so sought after, with a 28/70 and a .410 Mag.
The work of two strong and fast kurzhaars was complemented by that of a sly Italian bracca: it is difficult, acting on a similar terrain, to assign a preference between the two styles, given that all three had noses to spare, well maintained firm and a valid carryover. We will examine the different rifles later on, assuming that the semi-auto in 20 gave us a good shot on a cross partridge, returning after a rather long flight following the sizzle, while the over / under in 28 marked two beautiful shots on pheasants under firm request, obviously, accurate aiming at a distance congruent with the swarm of 24 g of shot.
