Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta is pleased to introduce the 686 Silver Pigeon I, the latest version of the Beretta hunting icon. For over 35 years, the Silver Pigeon has set the standard in the crossover hunting over-and-under category, establishing itself as the emblem of excellence and reliability. The 2024 evolution of the 686 SPI is the best version of the Silver Pigeon I, a continuous update that elevates the renowned Beretta hunting shotgun to new heights.
Franco Gussalli Beretta, President & CEO of Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta, said: “The Silver Pigeon never goes out of style. Each model in this line has been a benchmark for its quality and this 2024 version continues its tradition, embodying the essence of a timeless classic that gets better with age. Renewed aesthetics and functional features allow us to remain alongside hunters around the world with the beloved workhorse of Beretta over-and-unders. We are with them as they face new challenges and help maintain the natural balance in a responsible way”.
The innovative, smoother key mechanism makes opening and closing the shotgun easier, combined with the improved balance of the action and the polished stainless steel trigger, the Silver Pigeon enters a new era of functionality.
The richer and more refined floral engraving reaches the rear of the action for the first time and improves the design on the hinge pins, uniformly covering all metal surfaces.
|| Silver Pigeon | incorporates the excellent ballistics of Steelium® barrels Optimabore® HP, which guarantee dense, uniform patterns and reduced recoil and muzzle climb.
Available at launch in 12 gauge, it will be introduced later in smaller gauges.

The Extralight® butt plate guarantees greater lightness, abrasion resistance and protection from chemical and atmospheric agents, thanks to its closed cell structure. The pistol grip stock and beaked forend of the 686 Silver Pigeon | are made of grade 2 walnut with an oil finish and are finely checkered for optimum grip, even in the rain. The stock is now available with a raised drop of 35/55 to improve handling and the shooting experience, in both right- and left-handed versions.
The Vittoria version is available, with a semi-Montecarlo 35/45/55 drop. The Sporting version features the adjustable B-Fast® stock.
Based on the superb 680 platform, with its unmistakable low and slim action and legendary ultra-reliable mechanism, the action features the now iconic locking system with trapezoidal shoulders and two sturdy pins that protrude from the action plane to fit into the seats on the sides of the breech, while on the front of the action there are two hinge pins that fit into the appropriate housings made in the monobloc.
The 686 Silver Pigeon | closes smoother and requires less effort thanks to the redesigned key, with a release pin repositioned at the top of the action. The proven balance of the 680 has been further improved, keeping the weight always on the hinge pins.
The engravings are made with modern five-axis laser technology, capable of engraving rounded surfaces while maintaining perfect continuity in the design. The floral theme, created by Beretta Master Engravers, perfectly covers the metal surfaces and extends for the first time to the rear of the receiver, embellishing the hinge pins. The micro-stroke baseplate enhances the depth of the scene.
The 2024 Silver Pigeon | features a bright-faced stainless steel trigger for added durability. The selector is located on top of the safety, allowing the user to select the barrel for the first shot with a quick and easy lateral movement. The ultra-reliable and robust ejection system is the proven version used on the 680 platform, with over a million rifles in service over 30 years.
The 686 Silver Pigeon | is equipped with Steelium® Optimabore® HP barrels. Steelium® is the seal of guarantee of all barrels produced at Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta, which was founded in 1526 as a barrel manufacturer, even before becoming a manufacturer of complete weapons. 500 years of experience that is still evident today, also with the help of the most advanced production technologies.
Every single Beretta Steelium® barrel is made with the exclusive Beretta tri-alloy steel (Ni, Cr, Mo) and goes through deep drilling, cold hammer forging and vacuum distension. This entire process guarantees smoother ballistics that help reduce recoil and muzzle climb and guarantees perfect, denser and more uniform groups with any type of ammunition: lead, steel and High Performance steel.
The geometry of the Optimabore® HP barrels, with the extended 80 mm barrel cone, is designed to offer exceptional performance, even with steel shot. The barrels are available in lengths of 67, 71 and 76 cm for hunting models and 71, 76 and 81 cm for sports models.
The pattern remains perfect and uniform regardless of the type of cartridge, thanks also to the use of the 70 mm long Optimachoke® HP chokes, made of high-strength steel. The ventilated top rib, with precise anti-glare checkering and the traditional steel front sight, is a clear reference to the most exclusive Beretta over-and-unders. The Sporting version features a 10×8 top rib.
