Beretta brings to the market a new over-and-under shooting platform, the result of centuries-old knowledge combined with the most modern and exclusive technologies. Here is the SL2: the epitome of the Gardonese factory's experience in skeet shooting and luxury shotguns. Futuristic lines and innovative technical solutions currently available only to a limited number of customers. It is "Launch Edition": a limited edition of only 50 shotguns divided between Trap, Skeet and Sporting. Compared to the classic version that will be released in 2022, the SL2 Launch Edition differs in the treatment on the receiver with the super-technological DLC treatment, for the glossy black color with the acid green logo affixed to the chest of the receiver. The equipment is completed by a dedicated case and a personalized “congratulation card”.
- DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) surface treatment
- Innovative anti-reflective treatment on the breasts of the action and opening key
- Innovative design that maximizes peripheral vision
- Grade 4 woods
- New fore-end design
- Removable and interchangeable trigger unit
- Beretta Steelium Pro barrels
Stock and auction they are made of “grade 4” wood, finely hand-knurled for a perfect grip: for the Launch Edition everything will be tailor-made for the shooter. The process of selecting the material starts from the sketch with a careful review by our gun masters, but the process starts much earlier. Pietro Beretta Selection products are subjected to a thorough supply chain control already starting from the raw material, they are assembled "in white", that is, before the finishing of all the parts, to ensure that once the oiling is completed we have a perfect fitting. Another distinctive trait, which shows Beretta's attention to its customers, is being able to provide a production experience built on decades of close collaboration with the best shooters from all over the world. In this way we are not only able to recommend and create the best possible aesthetics, but to give in hand a product of absolute excellence also in terms of performance. The fore-end comes with a new geometry and with a finger stop in the front: a choice to create maximum ergonomics. The tried and tested Beretta MicroCore® recoil pad, known for its excellent recoil absorption and shoulder support, completes the stock-forend system.
The heart of the rifle is completely new, characterized by a chiusura Boss type with locking plug that goes between the first and second barrel, while the base of the sleeve fits into a V-shaped cradle obtained in the base of the receiver itself. The surface treatment of the weighing machine is the brand new DLC, a film of carbon atoms that protects the surface from aging, making it unassailable by acids or alkaline or corrosive solutions (eg acid sweat); the main feature of this treatment is its excellent resistance to wear and scratches, so much so that it is widely used for "heavy duty" applications (eg military production). The line of the receiver is innovative with a "sharp" design: in the upper area the "breasts / poppette" area has been reduced to the essentials, which together with a revolutionary treatment of the knocker consisting of micro-pyramids able to break down the light and the very low key design, allows a perfect view of the target even in the most extreme lateral trajectories. Specifically, the result was a result that reflects the maximization of the shadow whatever the direction and angle with which the light hits the surface.
The next step was aimed at applying the chosen texture to curved and difficult to machine surfaces by the laser source. Numerous tests have been carried out in this area: being a particularly fine texture to be created, even a slightly wrong angle of the laser source did not guarantee the homogeneous engraving of the geometry. Several tests were then carried out simulating various types of curvatures, until the final result was reached which allows to exclude reflections and excessive brightness whatever the anatomy of the surface. Finally, on the side it has a mirrored area that contrasts with the opaque parts, creating the unique elegance of this weapon that we can certainly count as a member of the prestigious “Pietro Beretta Selection” family.
As befits a rifle of this level, the trigger group it is removable and has leaf springs that always ensure a clear and uniform snap. A second trigger group with underguard and handguards made entirely of carbon will also be provided for the Launch Edition.
Le cane are the super tested Steelium Pro, already mounted on the DT11, which have given shooters many international successes and 19 medals (7 Gold; 7 Silver; 5 Bronze) in the last two Olympic cycles of Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, characterized by the triple cone particularly elongated: total length of 46 cm. The surface treatment consists of a Super polish hand-rolled by the Beretta artisans.
La carrying case represents a perfect synthesis between innovation and tradition: it has a carbon shell that is the result of Beretta's consolidated know-how on the material, while the interior in black microfiber with the writing SL2 in acid green (like the Beretta logo on the chest of the action ) is made entirely by hand in the Pietro Beretta Custom Atelier. Also for this element, Beretta wanted to show its ability to be a precursor while maintaining strong references to its origins.
